MPSetup.exe Windows 2000 W2K pro professional

If you ever see the above error while trying to install something like WMP, Windows Media Player.
Or if your other symptoms include that you have installer that make use of .msi files failing more often than working then
follow these steps:
Go to:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/default.mspx
For W2K, Windows 2000, go here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.mspx

Download and reinstall your Internet Explorer.

Then run your installers again.

Internet Explorer is so tightly integrated into Windows that if it gets corrupted then even installation won't work.
